The Wyoming State Legislature's Joint Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Committee met in Torrington and Cheyenne this week to discuss redistricting. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.

Earlier this month legislators from Sheridan and Johnson Counties held a public meeting in Sheridan to discuss several different scenarios that included moving Story residents back to Sheridan County representation.

House District 29 Representative John Patton is a member of the joint committee that is in charge of bringing a redistricting plan to the legislature for approval in 2012. He says that the question of what to do with the population of Story is one thing that was addressed earlier this week, but not yet completely figured out.

Patton explains that there are couple of different options that are being considered.

Patton said that the joint committee will hold hearings next month in Sheridan and Douglas. The one in Sheridan will be September 19th, however, the exact location has not yet been determined. Patton also indicated that there will be a local meeting prior to the September meeting to further explain the options that affect Story residents. The date and time for that meeting has not yet been set.
