The Sheridan Recreation District has renewed an agreement for the Softball Recreation Complex at Sheridan College for two years.
In action yesterday (Wednesday, June 18), district board members approved an addendum that extends the agreement through Dec. 31, 2015.
The addendum further provides that the agreement will automatically renew for another year unless terminated by either the district or the Northern Wyoming Community College District board. Recreation District board member Alex Lee said the agreement is a compromise. The college wanted the agreement to renew every year, to provide for flexibility, while the recreation district wanted a five-year agreement.
In other action, Recreation District Director Richard Wright said 10 Park Fit programs have been scheduled so far this summer. Park Fit is a free community workout program that takes place every Wednesday in one of Sheridan's city parks. The director said the 40-minute workouts start at 12:10 o'clock.
Park Fit schedules are available at the recreation district office in Thorne-Rider Park, which is off 11th Street. The program is sponsored by Emit Technologies.
The recreation director also presented Sheridan County School District 2's facility usage report.
Recreation board members received copies of a proposed agreement for use, operation and maintenance of covered tennis court facilities at Thorne-Rider Park. The agreement is between the Sheridan Athletic Association and the Sheridan Community Tennis Association, but the recreation district director recommended that both district directors and Sheridan city officials see the document. He noted that the park is city property.
