Sheridan County Recreation District 1 will again seek county approval for a proposed community center in Big Horn.

At a meeting Wednesday, recreation district members voted unanimously to resubmit an application for a conditional use permit for a facility to be built just south of the Big Horn Y, which the Sheridan County Commission rejected last year.

District Chairman Zack Cummins explains why he believes the original application was turned away.

O'Dell Construction of Sheridan will be the contractor for the 7,000 square-foot structure. The district board chairman said the contract calls for cost not to exceed $935,000. He anticipates the application will go to the county planning commission in June, and to the county commission in July.
