Rare Early Flooding in Eastern Sheridan County

Some rare early flooding caused the national weather service to issue a “small stream flood advisory” for rain and melting snow in eastern Sheridan County Thursday.

Though the flooding didn't cause any serious problems, Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Coleman says that late February is pretty early for floods.

Minor flooding was reported in eastern Sheridan County Wednesday night as a result of about a half inch of rain combined with melting snow during a period of about 24 hours.

Coleman said that obviously this doesn't have an impact on runoff for this spring as that depends on still-to-come snowfall determining snowpack on the mountain.
