Ranchester Leaders Continue Minors In Bars Discussion

Ranchester's Town Council will give second-reading consideration to an ordinance setting limits to bars serving food to minors at this week's meeting. The session will start at 6:30 Tuesday night at Town Hall.

Also scheduled is third and final reading of the town's flood damage prevention ordinance, and first reading of an ordinance relating to fire pits within city limits.

The minors-in-bars ordinance would ban service of food to underage children in bars unless they are accompanied by a parent, and no minor will be allowed to eat in a bar after 10 o'clock even with a parent. The ordinance was approved on first reading on Nov. 5 and requires passage on third and final reading before it becomes law.

Also during the upcoming meeting, councilors will consider a proposed irrigation ordinance, and expect to hear from the town's fire chief regarding investigation of the noxious odor ordinance. An issue regarding noxious odors came before the council during the Nov. 5 meeting. Councilors asked for the investigation at that time, after the person reportedly responsible for violating the ordinance did not appear before the council as requested.
