Ranchester Council Hears Concerns Over Town's Noisy Dog Ordinance

The Ranchester Town Council listened to a concerned resident at their meeting last night. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.

Ranchester resident Kathy Dellit recently received two citations for being in violation of the town's noisy dog ordinance. Kathy and her husband Rick, have been to court and fined for one of the violations, with the second court date set for later this month.

Dellit feels the citations weren't necessary since they received no warning prior to being written up.

Dellit thinks that a change needs to be made to the ordinance, specifically clarifying what is and what isn't excessive dog barking.

While the Council took no action on amending the ordinance, they acknowledged Dellit's concern and pointed out that they are in the midst of reworking the town's ordinances and would address the issue at a future meeting.
