The town of Ranchester is one step closer to having a contract with the Tongue River Fire Protection District after a productive work session held Thursday night. The issue goes back several years when the Town signed and offered a contract to the Ranchester Volunteer Fire Department. After sixteen months that contract was never signed or returned to Town officials, which led the Council to deem the contract null and void. The Town expressed that they'd like to reopen contract negotiations with the Fire District.
Ranchester Councilwoman Samantha Nixon explains that after negotiations began last fall, the Fire District submitted a two page contract to the Town.
The work session held Thursday night went very well for both entities explains Nixon.
Nixon stated that they hope to have a workable agreement ready to be signed by both parties at the Council's first meeting in February.
