Sheridan Memorial Hospital held its annual Heart Health Fair Tuesday night, showcasing a variety of options available for strengthening the cardiovascular system.
Hospital staff offered the public a rare chance to tour the new catheterization lab, or cath lab. X-ray technicians there say they've already treated over 20 patients at the state-of-the-art center.
Attendees had a chance to get their blood pressure checked and learn from educators and medical personnel how to strengthen their cardiovascular systems. Patty Bell Usher, a registered dietician and diabetes educator with the hospital, shares a simple way to improve the quality of life in patients with diabetes.
She says eating healthy can seem overwhelming for some, but with her easy to remember method, it's a non-daunting way to eat healthy, one plate of food at a time.
