Sheridan's Dog and Cat Shelter will have their annual low-cost rabies clinic at Kendrick Park this week starting Tuesday morning at 8.
Dogs and cats can show up without an appointment to get a rabies vaccination for $10. Leashed dogs and cats in carriers can also pick up their city license, which needs to be renewed annually, at the event.
The vaccination given at the clinic is good for three years as long as the pet has gotten two shots one year apart. Otherwise, the vaccine is only considered good for one year. If your pet was previously vaccinated for rabies, be sure to bring paperwork from the veterinarian to get a three-year certification. A tag alone is not proof of vaccination.
The low-cost rabies clinic is open to the whole community in an effort to promote public health.
The Dog and Cat Shelter's rabies clinic at the Kendrick Park bandshell will be Tuesday through Saturday from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon each day.
