Tonight Shakespeare fans will be treated to the first of four performances of his classic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream – Abridged. Produced by the Sheridan College No Frills Theatre Company, Gene Sager, who co-directs the play with his wife, Lillian, explains the “abridged” part.
That's one of the great things about Shakespeare, Sager says – his works transcend time because the themes are timeless.
Even though there are several ages represented in this production – from young folks in their 20's up to not-so-young folks in their 70's, the players are all considered Sheridan College students. Shakespeare is not done here very often, and one of the actors, Gillian Malone, talks about the challenge of learning her role.
A Midsummer Night's Dream – Abridged runs tonight, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Saturday afternoon April 17th at 2 o'clock. Tickets are available at the WYO Theatre Box Office, online at www.wyotheater.com, or at the information desk at Sheridan College.
