Programs Help Local Animal Shelter

As always, the local animal shelter is busy raising funds, so has several ways the community can get involved.

Two of the projects are the Grounds for Adoption coffee sale and the aluminum can collection program.

As per the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter newsletter, you can enjoy a special blend of coffee made especially for the shelter as a fund-raiser by Jim and Caren Smith of the local Roast store.

The blend is described as a hearty medium-dark roast. A 12-ounce bag sells for $12 and both whole been and ground are available. The coffee can be purchased at Paw Prints Pet Boutique, Little Willow Traders and Sheridan Physical Therapy, all in Sheridan, and the Monastery Creations Gift Shop in Dayton.

The aluminum cans can be dropped off at the green can hut just inside the gates to the can trailer at Scotty’s Skate Castle in Sheridan. The money raised through the can recycling program is used specifically to care for the animals at the shelter.

As of the first week in the month, that was nearly 40 cats, three kittens, 18 adult dogs and six puppies. Another dog, four cats and three kittens were in foster care, waiting for homes.

For more information about the animals or how you can help, call the shelter.
