Alex Banks, a long-time Sheridan resident and retired professional ballroom dancer, is hosting an open house to sell his antique collection this weekend.

This part of his accumulations is mainly derived from the belongings of his late sister, who spent three years living in Thailand. Much of his inventory features elaborate art centered around Eastern religion derived from Buddhism and tribal mythology. Half antique store and half museum, this sale at 331 Coffeen is a must-see for collectors and those interested in Asian history. Banks is a busy guy, but has cleared some time this weekend for the community to see his goods.

Even if you aren't looking to start a collection of old relics, you can stop by to soak up some of its history.

Banks' sale is at 331 Coffeen Avenue, or for a private showing, call 674-8437.
