The Big Horn National Forest has issued a media release that states that Forest Service firefighters plan to conduct a prescribed burn today about one mile west of U.S. Highway 16 in Tensleep Canyon. The media release states the prescribed burn will improve wildlife habitat, reduce fuels, and increase range forage on about 225 acres of sagebrush.
Smoke will be visible in the area, with active smoke from approximately 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Forest officials recommend that travelers on the highway and on forest roads use headlights and be aware that smoke may reduce visibility in some places.
