Last Saturday, along with communities all over the US, Buffalo held their own Prescription Drug Take-Back Day at the Johnson County Family YMCA.
This year the Buffalo Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office conducted their prescription drug take-back program during the Y's Healthy Kids' Day celebration.
Bill Hawley, Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist with the CRC, said although he believes they took in less unwanted, unused or outdated medications, this year's take-back was still a success.
According to information provided by Hawley, over 40 pounds of prescription drugs were collected during the event held in the fall of 2010, which is typical.
If you missed the Prescription Drug Take-Back Day last weekend, there will be others scheduled in the future, and Meds can be taken to the Buffalo/Johnson County Criminal Justice Center year-round where they will be properly disposed of.
