A preliminary hearing for 61-year-old Sheridan High School Counselor Larry Steiger was postponed in Campbell County Circuit Court this week. Lawyers for Steiger and Trudy Garcia asked that the hearing be continued because both had scheduling conflicts.
Both Steiger and Garcia are charged with allegedly purchasing over $1,600 worth of personal items with a school district credit card. Circuit Court Judge Wendy Bartlett granted the continuance, but did not set a court date for the two.
Both Garcia and Steiger are charged with three felonies for knowingly submitting a false claim or voucher. If convicted, each face up to two years in prison on each count.
Steiger served as high school principal for six years before resigning in June. He is currently a guidance counselor at Sheridan High School.
