Physician Recruiting was again discussed by the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees at their last meeting.
The JCHC has been looking to hire a female physician for quite some time and has one they are interested in hiring, but she will not be available until after her residency is up August of 2014.
Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward told the board they have been contacted by Health Resources Network with information on a male physician in Cheyenne who is interested in working for the JCHC once his residency is up in December of this year.
Ward told the board they will be interviewing the physician in the next couple of weeks and if he is a strong candidate, they may offer him a position. He encouraged the board to attend meetings during the interview process to meet the prospective new physician.
Ward said the male physician would fill a current vacancy in the physician rotation until the female physician would be available. The hospital would then be slightly overstaffed but he would prefer to have too many physicians rather than not enough, he told the board.
