The Tongue District Ranger of the Big Horn National Forest has converted a portion of Trail 38 from motorized to non-motorized use.
Cheri Jones with the Tongue Ranger District recreation staff explains.
The rocky and narrow approximately 4.5 miles of trail runs from Kearney Lake to the intersection with Trail 033, and was deemed be in deteriorating conditions and potentially dangerous to ATV users. Jones said there were not any accidents that caused the Forest Service to evaluate its use. The decision was made after an environmental assessment, public comment period, combined with the fact that there is still motorized access to Kearny Lake.
