Late last week it was reported through the Associated Press that the odds of Wyomingites getting their own lottery or joining a multi-state game like Powerball have improved.
A legislative committee approved a measure Thursday that would set up a corporation to oversee selling lottery tickets and distributing prizes.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle indicated that Mike Moser of the Wyoming State Liquor Association says that Colorado's top lottery ticket retailer is only ten miles south of Cheyenne but is 30 miles from the nearest Colorado community. He says most of the business that generates nearly $3 million yearly in ticket sales likely comes from Wyoming customers, and that's money Wyoming is losing out on.
This bill prompted this week's Bank of Sheridan / sheridanmedia.com poll question: Should Wyoming establish a state lottery?
