You may have seen them as you've driven around town in the past few weeks – cars with the words “Free the Leash Kids” written on the backs of car windows.
Inquiring as to the meaning of the messages, Sheridan Media learned that some in the community have issues with parents who have their children “tethered” as they're out walking around.
Proponents of child harnesses use them because they feel it helps them to keep their children safe; they can have the freedom to walk around and explore things without running off or getting into dangerous situations.
Naysayers see it as treating their children like dogs and a cruel practice.
We wanted to know how you felt about the issue for this week's Bank of Sheridan / sheridanmedia.com poll question: “Do you support parents putting children in harnesses while out in public (ref. 'Free the Leash be Kids')?"
Let us know what you think. Cast your vote here: http://www.sheridanmedia.com/pol..., and feel free to leave appropriate comments.
Then be sure to tune in to the Jackson Electric Open Line this Friday at 9:10 a.m. to hear the results on NewsTalk 930 KROE.
