Many years ago, fluoride was a part of Sheridan's water system, but then was removed. Now, there are some in town who would like to have fluoride put back into the water.
What is fluoride? Sodium Fluoride is a compound of fluorine that is a member of the Periodic Table of the Elements or Atomic Number 9. Fluoride is a naturally occurring element found in rocks, soil, fresh water and salt water. However the variety of types and sources of fluoride from pharmaceutical to industrial grade and how these substances are used, can bring about confusion on the issue of fluoridated water.
The issue prompted this week's Bank of Sheridan / sheridanmedia.com poll question: Do you support putting Fluoride into Sheridan's drinking water?
