Work to streamline development standards and design guidelines for the City of Sheridan entered a second phase during a Planning Commission Work Session Monday night at City Hall.
City Planning Director Robert Briggs says that this phase builds off some of the work they have done with the scenic character plan and the entryway corridor and gateway design standards.
Presenters from contractors AECOM and Russell and Mills Studios, both of Fort Collins, explained how standards for developers include a long list of requirements such as landscape design, buffer yards, lighting, storage and screening, median variation and parking. Craig Russell of Russell and Mills said these are sometimes unclear and immeasurable.
He explained that their goals in this phase of the project include figuring out the difference between a standard and a guideline and making sure things are measurable.
Briggs explains some areas of the code that have been the most important so far.
Briggs said that another meeting should be held in about a month when Russel and Mills and AECOM will present conceptual draft changes on the code for the audience to comment on.
