At Monday's meeting of the Sheridan City Planning Commission, there was discussion about setting up a work session with the city council so that both bodies are on the same page. The idea was first suggested by planning commissioner Robert Webster and all agreed Monday that it was a good idea.
But the commissioners noted a disconnect between themselves and the city council. Citing the Skyview West Planned Unit Development, which was recommended by the planning commission last month and later tabled by the city council, the commissioners noted there needs to be more of an open communication line between both bodies and an understanding of certain types of developments. Planning Commissioner Monty Webb.
Webb says the disconnect is not personal, it's more of a lack of being on the same page. Additionally, he says he feels the work the planning commission does is being appreciated by the council - and that the work the all-volunteer commission does deepens the council's understanding of upcoming projects by bringing issues to light.
Webb says he thinks the upcoming work session will be beneficial for all involved.
The planning commission will hold that special work session on May 13 at 6 p.m., to be followed by a regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m.
