The City of Buffalo and Johnson County, along with the Johnson County School District will be asked to jointly match funding for a grant from the state for improvements to the SW quadrant of the city.
Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery explains more about the requests, which will be made at each of their Tuesday meetings.
The proposal for the grant applications was presented to the entities at the August meetings, and now with the deadline for application approaching the planners are looking for final approval.
Improvements in the area include sewer line upgrades, curb and gutter, water transmission lines, and resurfacing a number of streets in the area including Klondike and Cemetery Roads.
The idea is to get that section of Buffalo and its infrastructure up to par before the third school in the area is operational. That new elementary school is scheduled to open in 2013.
The city, county and school district will be applying to the State Lands and Investments Board (SLIB), if approved by the three entities, with a deadline set for September 15.
