One-percent funding requests from the city and county are being submitted, ahead of the January 18 deadline, said Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery. City and county department heads and boards submit their requests to the One-Percent Committee, who will choose the best requests for funding. Montogomery explains.
One-percent Funding is a biennial process that the city and county use to distribute sales tax revenues collected in the county that has been redistributed back to the local entities from the state.
Some of the projects the City has paid for from One-Percent money in the past include the North Main storm sewer project, a sewer infiltration study, the addition to the City fire hall, police vehicles and new playground equipment in the park.
The One-Percent Committee will make their recommendations in April or May, Montgomery said, before the budget sessions begin for the city council and county commission.
