UPDATE: As of Dec. 29, the petition has garnered almost 100,000 signatures. Per the terms and conditions of the White House's online petition site, this particular petition has crossed the final signature threshold and will require a response from the Obama Administration. Additionally, it's confirmed that Alex Jones-led InfoWars, based out of Austin, Texas, created the petition.
In the wake of the tragic shooting massacre in Connecticut, the debate over the Second Amendment is raging. On Friday, a Texas man created a petition on the White House's official website to deport CNN's Piers Morgan for "targeting the Second Amendment" in a recent debate with Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America.
The petition has so far received nearly 48,000 signatures.
British-born Morgan began the interview by noting that gun sales have surged nationally and he questioned Pratt's suggestion that having armed teachers could help prevent shootings in their classrooms. Pratt responds.
The interview quickly morphed into this type of exchange.
Pratt said restricting Americans' access to firearms based on Nancy Lanza's failure to keep her weapons secured is unfair.
While teachers in some states are considering carrying concealed handguns and some gun store owners and firearms safety instructions are offering discounts - and even free lessons to teachers - the Obama Administration is considering regulating the sale of certain firearms.
