It's their first day in Sheridan, and they have already left quite an impression. Volunteers with Up with People from around the world, some as far as Switzerland, some from other states, spent Tuesday working on building a new mini park and barbecue area behind RENEW in Sheridan.
David King, Home Depot's general manager, says his store, Mullinax Concrete and the city of Sheridan all teamed up in providing the materials and more for the project, setting aside the fact they may be competitors on the average day.
King says he and an associate visited RENEW a few weeks ago and met with staff to find out what was needed and drew up the plans. He says the Up with People volunteers are hard-working and that it's difficult to keep them busy because they finish everything they're supposed to do. I told that to Up with People cast manager, Leslie Kleiman.
Not bad for a first impression.
