GILLETTE, (AP) - The parents of a 34-year-old autistic man who was run over while crossing a Gillette street have settled their wrongful death lawsuit with the driver's insurance carrier. According to court documents, Bill Kintner of Gillette was walking to the grocery store in 2008 when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Cole Stoner.
The driver told police he tried to stop but couldn't brake in time, and a blood test taken 90 minutes after the crash showed his blood alcohol level was just below the legal limit.
Kintner's parents sued in December 2008, asking for funeral costs and punitive damages. That lawsuit was settled last month with State Farm Insurance. The terms of the settlement were not released.
