Students from Meadowlark and Highland Park Elementary Schools in Sheridan joined forces Thursday to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
3rd through 5th graders spent almost 2 hours making paper cranes that will go a long way in aiding the relief effort in Japan.
Highland Park Art Instructor Marty Williams says that the paper cranes are part of nationwide fundraising effort by the Students Rebuild organization.
Williams was happy to see students from both schools come together for such a good cause.
Williams said that she and fellow teacher Molly Kinsey will be sending the paper cranes off today so that the students' efforts can be part of the first round of aid to Japan.
