Mother of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, Pam Tebow, will speak in Sheridan this November. Mrs. Tebow will be the keynote speaker at the The Legacy Pregnancy and Resource Center's annual fundraising dinner this November. Maureen Metcalf, executive director and president of the center, talked about why it was important to them to bring Mrs. Tebow to Sheridan.
Mrs. Tebow, who holds a BA in journalism and communications from the University of Florida, was a subject of controversy after a pro-life television advertisement for Focus on the Family during this year's Super Bowl. The ad told the story of her pregnancy with Tim when Mrs. Tebow was diagnosed with amoebic dysentery while pregnant during a mission to the Philippines. She was advised by doctors to abort the child because strong medicines used to wake her from a coma were expected to harm the fetus.
Since Tim entered the NFL, Mrs. Tebow has entered a career of making pro-life speaking appearances around the country. Metcalf says that the process began when she first started following Pam after she heard about the pro-life ad.
Metcalf said that last year they raised $100,000 at the fundraiser. The fundraiser is Thursday November 10th.
Tim Tebow was a National Champion college quarterback for the Florida Gators in 2009, and he won the Heisman Trophy that year. He was a first round draft pick by the Broncos last year.
