City Council Approves $29.2 Million Budget

The Sheridan City Council held a special meeting Tuesday night to adopt the budget for fiscal year 2010-2011. Balancing the $29.2 million budget was no easy task, as declining revenues made for a $1.3 million dollar budget shortfall that prompted voluntary employee buyouts and additional cuts across the board. Golf Tourney Raises 14,000 for Public Arts

The Sheridan Media Benefit Golf Tournament raised $14,000 for public art in Sheridan.

The annual Sheridan Media Benefit Golf Tournament is held in conjunction with Celebrate the Arts every year, and the proceeds of the event help provide public art throughout Sheridan.

Groundbreaking for Supercomputer

Groundbreaking for Supercomputing Center in Cheyenne took place Tuesday.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for the National Center for Atmospheric Research Supercomputing Center to be built in Cheyenne. The Center will provide advanced computing services to scientists around the nation and world. Governor Dave Freudenthal says that persistence paid off in the end.

Lomax Land & Cattle Co. Quarry Approved

It took several meetings between the Sheridan County Planning & Zoning Commission and the Sheridan County Commission, before the Lomax Land & Cattle Co. quarry permit was granted, but granted it was at this morning's County Commission meeting. Commissioner Bob Rolston comments.

Project Protects Sheep and Wolves

Household Hazardous Waste Day

The City of Sheridan Recycling Center will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste Day this Saturday, June 19th. Center director Charles Martineau explains.

Items that folks can turn in include pesticides, fertilizers, various types of household cleaners and paint, to name a few.

Eleven Appear in Court on MIP Charges

Friday June 4th, Deputies with the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office made multiple arrests at a shop party on Bowie Road in Sheridan. The bulk of the citations that were given out were for Minor in Possession, as 24 minors were cited. Eleven of those minors appeared in Circuit Court before Judge Sampson Monday afternoon, with all of them pleading guilty to their charge.

The Sheridan City Council received an update from Council of Community Services Executive Director Carma Harston during a noon work session Monday. The Council of Community Services is a non-profit agency based in Gillette that provides basic human services in the form of food, housing, medical care and clothing.

The City of Sheridan recently installed a traffic control measure at Wyoming Avenue and Whittier Street. A neighborhood petition is what prompted the traffic control study, as residents expressed concern that Wyoming Avenue was getting too much traffic due to motorists using it as a thoroughfare instead of Coffeen Avenue.

Judge Knocks State's Handling of Kidnapped Trucker

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A federal judge says the state of Wyoming's treatment of a Wal-Mart trucker kidnapped by a rogue state trooper during an aborted murder plot was sleazy. U.S. District Judge William Downes didn't rule Monday on the state's request to dismiss the trucker's lawsuit.
