County Commissioners' Briefs From Last Meeting

Johnson County's Commissioners.

Johnson County's Commissioners dealt with a number of smaller items on the agenda from their last meeting.

After some discussion they re-approved Arthur "Coog" Myers and approved Dan Rogers to the Johnson County Solid Waste District Board on a vote of 2-1 with Commissioner John Gibbs voting against.

School Board Hears Update On Burritt Street Construction

Johnson County School District One Board of Trustees were given an updated time line on the Burritt Street Construction which will affect the end of this school year, but should be substantially complete before the start of the 2014-15 school year.

UPDATE: Feb. 28 -- The Jackalope Jump has been postponed to March 15, due to what organizers called dangerous weather conditions.

Mine-Sniffing Dog Visits Sheridan

Students at Highland Park Elementary School in Sheridan were given the opportunity yesterday to see a land mine-sniffing dog in action, thanks to a state tour coordinated by Diana Enzi.

Students Compete in State Science Fair

Several students from the local area will be traveling to Laramie next week to compete in the Wyoming State Science Fair.

Sheridan County School District 2 received high marks this week from its teachers in making technology available in classrooms. School District 2 includes schools in the city of Sheridan and Story Elementary.

Landon's Greenhouse in Sheridan is hosting two free workshops on Saturday.

College Hosts Drawing Exhibition

A drawing exhibition and workshop featuring a visiting professor will be presented over a three-day period next month at Sheridan College.
