Governor Appoints Historic Preservation Officer

Governor Dave Freudenthal has appointed Mary Hopkins as Wyoming's State Historic Preservation Officer. Hopkins brings more than 32 years of historical preservation experience to the position and has been the Interim SHPO for the past three years. Hopkins comments on the Governor's appointment.

Destination Imagination State Competition

Pinewood Derby Rolls into Hammer's

This year's Pinewood Derby, which was held at Hammer's Chevrolet in Sheridan on Saturday, raised over $2,000 to benefit the local Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs. Before the Scouts had their round of races, local businesses competed with home-made mini-derby cars.

College District Works On Budget

The Northern Wyoming Community College District will hold their monthly meeting this Thursday, and on the agenda will be the preliminary budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Last year amidst a 10% cut to the District's budget, a four day work week was implemented through the summer months, which saved the District over $30,000.

Winter visits nearly flat at Yellowstone

Low snowfall and the recession are being blamed for modest gains this winter in visits to Yellowstone National Park.
From December to March, the park saw 93,838 visitors, an 8
percent increase from last year. Those numbers are still down from the 2007-08 season when the park saw 99,975 visitors.
