Buffalo's other major event this weekend, along with the Memorial Day Services and the high school rodeo, was the annual Lake DeSmet Lion's Club Fishing Derby.
The event featured over $50,000 in cash and prizes available to win over the three days of the long weekend.
Fishermen got to try their luck catching tagged fish for cash, ranging in value from $100 to $2,000 each, and have the opportunity to win various prizes each day and a chance at the grand prize, a Kymco UXV 500 side-by-side.
The weather seemed to cooperate with those attending for the most part this year, good news for those who have seen some very trying conditions in recent years.
Lions Club Chairman Keith Neustel, appearing tired and ready for some much-needed rest after the long weekend, said the weekend appeared to be a success, and said final results from the weekend would be available Tuesday.
