A new sentencing date has been set for Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne, who was convicted of 1st Degree Murder last year in November. Shortly after the trial, Osborne hired his own attorney, Keith Goody from Washington state.
Throughout the court proceedings and the trial, Osborne was represented by Public Defender Robert Jones. Osborne was supposed to be sentenced January 13th, but Goody requested a continuance, which was granted by District Court Judge John Fenn, to have time to go over the case and get up to speed on what occurred during the week long trial. Osborne will now be sentenced Tuesday March 29th, at 10 am.
Osborne was found guilty of 1st Degree Murder for killing 42-year-old Gerald Bloom at a mobile home at 1075 Bellevue Avenue in Sheridan January 15th, 2010. Prosecution opted not to seek the death penalty in the case, which means that Osborne faces life in prison.
