Although there is snow on the ground and the temps have been quite cold, it's the time of year for orders to be placed for shots of springtime. The annual American Cancer Society Daffodil Days bouquets will be coming in just a few weeks, fresh-cut from Washington State. Longtime local volunteer Gwen Turner says the project this year has some extra assistance.
Each year along with the flowers, folks have an opportunity to purchase a specially designed Boyd's Bear. This year's little gal is called Liv N. Hope, and she comes adorned with a daffodil collar, and her back paws are embroidered with daffodils on one and the American Cancer Society logo on the other.
Cost for the 10-bundle bouquets are $7; cost for a bouquet and the bear are $25. It's very important, Turner tells us.
Turner says they always welcome volunteers to help take orders, and then to wrap and deliver the bouquets and teddy bears when they come in.
