The City of Sheridan and WYDOT hosted an open house Wednesday night to take public comment on the Lewis Street Bridge project that has been in the works for the past couple of years. WYDOT Public Involvement Specialist Ronda Holwell explains why they are involved in the project.
Holwell says that the project will also consist of reconstructing some of the existing streets in the area as well.
At the request of the City, the proposed alignment would close off Alger Street at Lewis Street, making Alger a cul de sac. Holwell describes what the time line is for the project once the public comment period is over.
The reconstruction of the Lewis Street Bridge will be funded by the Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program through the Federal Highway Administration. The federal funding must be allocated at an 80/20 match, meaning the funding for the project will be 80% Federal funds and 20% City funds. Public comments will be accepted until February 20th.
