The month of October has been designated as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In an effort to show that it is possible to break the cycle of violence, the Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center is holding their annual March Against Violence this Saturday. Rhonda Weber sees the effects of violence each day during her work at the Center.
The March begins at 9 in the morning on Saturday, October 3rd. Everyone is invited to attend the event. The March itself will go from the Sheridan County Courthouse, at Burkitt and Main Streets, to Grinnell Plaza. Weber says the event is not a fundraiser and will serve as a chance for participants to take an active role in reducing violence in the community. A reception will be held immediately following the March in Grinnell Plaza.
