Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Billings, Albert Richmond, says the winds we've seen this week culminating in 40 mile per hour gusts Thursday night should be decreasing as the weekend approaches.

Richmond explains there are a few systems contributing to the recent strong winds.

A low-level jet is a fast-moving ribbon of air and Richmond says it's sitting at roughly 7,000 to 8,000 feet in the atmosphere, contributing to the winds experienced in Sheridan as it flows from warm air to cooler air in the Western states.
