NWCCD Accreditation Visit

NWCCD Accreditation Visit

The Northern Wyoming Community College District is in the midst of their much anticipated AQIP “quality checkup visit.” This visit is just part of what the college district has to do in order to remain an accredited institution under AQIP guidelines. AQIP, which stands for Academic Quality Improvement Program, is an alternative accreditation process that is based on a model of self-directed and continual improvement, rather than fixed mandates or requirements.

The two AQIP reps — Dr. Mark Johnson and Dr. Laurie Pemberton, are visiting the colleges through most of the work week, checking up on how well NWCCD is doing. Dr. Pemberton says that from what she has seen so far, the district is not only meeting its goals:

She adds, however, that as part of the process, NWCCD is required to invite third party comments.

Dr. Jon Connolly, Sheridan College Academics VP, says “one of the benefits from a quality checkup is that we get to ask questions, too”:

The AQIP team will finish up on Friday with an exit conversation. It will be held at 10:45 in the C-tel Room at Sheridan College. The public is invited to attend.
