National Park Service Planners will implement a “One-Year Rule” for the upcoming winter season in Yellowstone National Park in order to allow for time to address a large number of public comments that were received regarding the proposed long-term regulation.

Yellowstone Superintendent Dan Wenk says that more than 58,000 responses were received during the 60-day public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

Wenk describes a few of the major issues that were brought up through public comment that the National Park Service intends to further analyze.

Winter use in Yellowstone this year will be the same as it has been for the past two seasons. 318 commercially guided snowmobiles and up to 78 commercially guided snowcoaches will be allowed within the park per day at Yellowstone.
