The Freedom from Religion Foundation, a non-profit educational organization, has sent a letter to President Obama asking him to remove any religious references from his upcoming oath of office.
The organization says that non-religious people are the fastest growing demographic in the country and that referring to God, it would not reflect the entire population's beliefs - or lack thereof.
In an exhaustive survey by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, one of the key findings was that in 18-to-29 year-olds, one-in-four said they are not affiliated with any religious organization.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation says politicians should stop pandering to the religious right and start courting non-believers.
