Jet-black smoke that could be seen on Sunday afternoon toward Wyarno can be attributed to a grass fire that got into some hay bales and tires near some farm equipment off Highway 336, three miles from Sheridan.
Firefighters responded to the fire at approximately 2:50 pm and extinguished the fire by 7:45 pm, Goose Valley Fire Chief Bob Williams said.
Goose Valley, Clearmont Volunteer Fire Department and the Big Horn Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the fire.
The land was being leased by Jack Hardesty.
