Over $15,000 was raised as the “Food Group” held its first fundraiser Saturday night to replenish their cupboards, cupboards which feed hungry school kids over the weekend.

Co-director of the Food Group, Amy Albrecht tells us there are hungry kids in Sheridan County.

In their 2nd year, the Food Group covers a lot of territory, feeding 230 children. But it's not just the kids that get fed, the whole family is provided with enough food to tide them over the weekend.

Partnering with the Food Bank of the Rockies, the Food Group is able to purchase food at substantial discounts for distribution. One dollar spent there will provide four meals. The Food Group's biggest need right now is...money.

The fundraiser was a Craft Brothers Concert and free taco feed with over 300 people attending. Held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan, donations were accepted at the door. For Albrecht, it's all about heart and passion.

This summer more volunteers will be needed as the Food Group will be feeding kids during the week. For more information or to donate please contact Albrecht at 674-6446, ext. 4203 or aalbrecht@sheridan.edu.
