Sheridan-based commercial developer of clean energy and environmental technology, Next Fuel, Inc., announced Thursday it's signed an agreement to commence coalbed methane productions in India. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy has the story.
The company will be conducting a pilot-scale project for Visat Oil-Tech Private Ltd.
Using Next Fuel's proprietary coal-to-gas technology, Visat will be testing methane production. According to a media release from Next Fuel, both companies have agreed to discuss a long-term partnership to expand commercialization of the coal-to-gas technology throughout India.
The process consists of converting low-grade coal into clean burning natural gas by introducing nutrients to the wide range of microorganisms typically present in coal deposits. By introducing nutrients, the microorganisms are stimulated - leading them to consume carbon containing compounds found in the coal and excrete natural gas as a byproduct.
