New Firearm Regs. Don't Change Hunting Boundaries

Many hunters are now venturing to the state and federal lands around the state, including the areas surrounding Yellowstone National Park.

Al Nash, Yellowstone Public Affairs Officer says that although the park boundary is well-marked:
And if that happens, he says:

Game animal carcasses or parts may be transported through Yellowstone by motor vehicle on park roads only if they are covered or stored out of sight. Hunters transporting game through the park must also obtain a transport permit from the National Park Service prior to entering park boundaries.

In addition, while a new law allows firearms to be carried into the park, discharging those firearms is still illegal.

Visitors or hunters who observe illegal hunting or firearm activity within the park should contact the National Park Service.
