Sheridan College in Johnson County has a new Director that has just recently begun his duties with the Buffalo campus.
Derek Andrews took the position August 1 after it became available when previous Director Micah Olsen departed to take over the Spear-O-Wigwam Mountain Campus of Sheridan College.
Although Andrews most recently worked for Chadron (Nebraska) State College in recruiting/admissions, he is familiar with Buffalo, living here and recruiting for the college during the last four years. When the recent opening came up at Sheridan College in Johnson County, he felt the opportunity was too good to pass up.
He tells us more about his position and what the goals for the campus are in the near future.
Growth, although it will never reach the campus size of Sheridan College or Gillette College, is the goal for the Johnson County campus, Andrews said, with the idea of students eventually earning full degrees in Buffalo without ever having to take classes in Sheridan or Gillette.
New class offerings this fall at SCJC include Interpersonal Communications, Cult Anthropology and CPR/First Aid.
