New information has been released regarding the incident that happened this past Monday night in Sheridan that ended in a Sheridan Police Officer fatally shooting 23-year-old Jesse Salveson. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has the details:
The 911 call that was made by Salveson's wife came in just before 8 pm, where she stated that her husband was threatening to harm himself. Two SPD Officers were dispatched to a home on West Nebraska Street, where upon arrival they found Mrs. Salveson in front of the home bleeding from a cut on her hand that she sustained while successfully taking a knife from her husband. She alerted the officers that her husband had another knife in his possession inside the home.
Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle explains the events that happened after officers entered the residence.
Redle said that the gunshot that killed Salveson entered through Salveson's ribcage hitting the liver and a kidney before penetrating the abdominal aorta. The name of the officer that shot Salveson still has not been released, as Redle indicated that the incident remains under investigation and it may be a couple of weeks before they'll have a clearer picture of things and be able to reach some final decisions on the incident.
