The Johnson County Arts and Humanities Council is announcing a new performing arts and community theatre group will conduct auditions for their presentation of the “Wizard Of Oz.”
The Arts and Humanities Council is sponsoring the new group to provide an outlet for fun, creative community involvement and produce quality entertainment.
Marie Verger, Vice President of Johnson County Arts and Humanities Council, said “Community theatre can provide wonderful opportunities for the average citizen and families to see and participate in live drama and perform together.
“The committee, following many community suggestions and ideas, has all agreed that they want to produce community theatre for all ages, including children, and the committee hopes to have a home of their own someday” said Vikki Chenette, President of Johnson County Arts and Humanities Council.
Volunteers are needed from actors and actresses, technicians, musicians, public relations, ticket sales, fundraising, set builders, to costumers and advisors.
The newly formed community theatre committee meets every Monday night at 5:30 p.m. at the dance studio behind Udder House, at 38 South Main Street. Rehearsal space is being donated, and the group would appreciate any and all donations.
The “Wizard of Oz” was selected because of the wide range of available roles for children and adults, and opportunity for families to perform together, said Verger, who will direct the show.
Auditions will be held Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10 from 4pm-8pm.
