The Sheridan City Council at their September 17th meeting rejected the bid for upgrades to the Big Goose and Sheridan Water Treatment plants due to the bid being a million dollars over the engineers estimate. At that meeting, it was announced that the project would be done in stages and that communications with the EPA indicated that their deadline for the project of October 1st, 2013 was a bit more flexible then previously thought.
Wednesday, at their regular monthly meeting, the Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board accepted the new phased approach that the City and SAWS will undertake to perform the government mandated upgrades. City of Sheridan Utilities Director Dan Roberts.
The updates to meet EPA regulations that must be done to both waste water treatment plants are to safeguard against cryptosporidium.
