The first week of summer brought out the bizarre near Wamsutter on Wednesday that ended with two people taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Stephen Townsend explains the unusual events that unfolded.
The incident began Wednesday night when the 26 year-old naked man, Armondo Cano, from Moroni, Utah, began fighting with another man, got back in his vehicle, rammed a vehicle of a Cheyenne couple, tried unsuccessfully to get in their car and then jumped in the back of another car which had stopped to offer help.
The female driver fled on foot and Cano, finding a 9mm pistol in the vehicle, began firing through closed windows, at who, is anyone's guess right now.
Cano was eventually wrestled to the ground by a Highway Patrol Trooper with the help of several truckers. Drug testing was done on Cano.
The distraught female owner of the handgun, along with Cano, were transported by ambulance to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Cano is being held on an emergency detention and has not been charged as of yet; however, Townsend said that he does face several felony charges.
